No much posted here lately because I’ve got another project that’s taking precedence over the BMW. It’s a little Honda Beat mid-engined convertible, powered by an HPEVS AC-35 motor with Curtis 144V controller, a Current Ways charger, and 48 CALB CAM72 cells.

MES water heater from Metric Mind arrived today. I should have ordered an extra water pump and vacuum pump at the same time. Oh well, plenty of time before I need them.

Another piece of the puzzle arrived today. Looks like adapters, drive-shaft, and a bunch of parts from ECS will be needed to fit it all up.
The Siemens motor arrived today. It’s a heavy little thing, but it spins smooth and true. Can’t wait to get the transmission next month and figure out how to mate it all up.
Getting to this point – the starting point – has taken months. I’ve wanted to do an EV for years but always found reasons not to. Then my car seemed to be running a bit rougher than it should, and maybe down on power a little. So I got it checked out and sure enough the motor is on the way out. So, I decided to rebuild, and then to rebuild as an electric car.
Rather than start the clock here at zero, I have to admit there has been a couple of months of reading, dreaming, talking, and research.
Even the new plate took about an hour of convincing myself to buy it.
Better get on with the real work then.
