Vehicle Upgrades

These aren’t really conversion components, but are changes that any 3’er could use, particularly one that’s 11 years old and has done nearly 180,000 km.

BMW Style 44 17″ wheels (from TradeMe) shod with Bridgestone Ecopia PZX 225/45R17 tyres. Feels more planted on the road and rolls like a champ when I lift off the throttle.

Koni FSD shock absorbers with Eibach Prokit Springs for a 35mm drop (sold as kit by Koni – number 2150-4005), along with top mounts, spring pads, etc,  from ECS. More controlled ride, similar comfort, no more crashing over potholes, much much better handling, and IMHO, nicer looking. What’s not to like? Maybe reduced ground clearance in car parks, but it’s not too bad in my regular one so far.

I’d love to fit air suspension, maybe something bespoke with Accuair ride height control, Bilstein Ride Control or Tein ADFC damping, and Android touch-screen integration pulling it all together on the head unit, but we’ll see how the funds hold out…
